THAT vintage Hip-Hop Font!

For many years now I’ve had a dream / idea to combine the unnamed classic vintage Hip Hop font with our film events, trouble is the font is unnamed so how do I find it?

Every few years I dig around and try and find it usually not really getting anywhere, that is until I did a search last month and stumbled on what I’d been search after for years: the font itself! You see I wasn’t the only person looking for it, Ben over at World Famous Original had been on the same path as me, but he’d gone way beyond what I’d been doing, he went and actually created his own version of the font from scratch and also created his own iron-on letter sets for it! His version is now titled GRANDMASTER CLASH, which is just such a perfect combination of words and the perfect name for this no name font.

So not only can you now get a digital version of this classic unnamed font but I can actually make my dream top thanks to Ben. As soon as I found the site where he sells them I purchased the license to use the font for commercial use, so expect to see it on our our flyers etc from now on, but I also picked up several packs of these custom iron-on letters!

They turned up in the post all the way from Los Angeles this week and I didn’t waste any time in getting to work creating the dream top I’d always wanted, the letters were super simple to iron-on and the results speak for themselves!

Expect to see me wearing this top and many more home made creations as soon as London cools down a bit! Want to get your own set, then head to World Famous Original right now!

#DukeFest Cancelled For 2020

DukeFest Cancelled

Hello everyone, we had originally hoped to hold DukeFest in July 2020 but with the continued virus situation we’re officially going to cancel the festival for this year. It’s sad to do this but right now it’s not possible to hold a film festival, so instead of trying to delay things even more we’re just going to fully cancel this year and look to return in 2021. We miss all of you and hope things are alright for everyone.

We’ve actually been hard at work on the content for the festival and have a huge amount of the shows done, so we really hope to come back in 2021 and share it all with you!

As a small bonus for there being no festival this year here’s a short special treat for you that we found this year, it’s the G Street Live meets David Lynch and Twin Peaks mash up that you never knew you wanted…

Don’t forget you can get a constant DukeFest fix via our YouTube channel where we’re uploading new rare footage and fun finds almost daily now – find it here.

All our love to everyone out there, take care and we’ll see you soon!

20th Century Fox – The VHS Years

This 20th Century Fox VHS trailer tape turned up on ebay recently, it was odd to see as I’d never come across this series of tapes before despite having worked in the video retail for a good few years by that point, I figured I would have seen these tapes around somewhere. Unless that is they were for Rental stores, which is very possible as well.

Anyway I knew it would be very mainstream titles on it, but was hoping for at least some sort of dealer info or maybe a fun intro, but now, it’s simply 7 theatrical trailers played back-to-back with nothing else. Still it is interesting to see how different films looked and felt even just 19-years back, there’s no superhero films and only one sequel. I’ve uploaded it now to our YouTube channel, take a watch below.

Featured on the tape are:

Legend Of Bagger Vance

Say It Isn’t So!

Dr Dolittle 2

Men Of Honour

And heading back about 20-years from this tape, here’s a look back to the very early 1980s and the second in the CBS / FOX The Hit List trailers tapes!
